Cooking Tips

Turn leftovers into a unique soup
Take leftover salad and veggies and puree them in blender with milk or chicken broth to make a unique soup.   Add salt and seasonings as desired.

Also, don’t throw away small amounts of leftover soups – add them to any other soup to extend the soup and create new flavors.

Save those herbs
Do you have some fresh leftover herbs?  Mince them and freeze them into ice cube trays with water. After frozen, move them to Zip lock bags.  Use them directly into soups, sauces or other dishes.

Freeze leftover broth
Freeze broths into ice cube trays  for later use in sauces, soups or sautés.

Preserve avocados and bananas
Is your avocado or banana ripe, but you’re not ready to use it? Place it in a brown paper bag in the refrigerator to preserve the avocado or banana.

Prevent Tearing from Onions

Refrigerate onions 30 minutes before peeling and cutting.

Make Dishes Lower Calorie

Use less oils, butters and fats and/or substitute chicken broth to sauté in, as opposed to the fats.
